I'm Dr. Robert Florian — a licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor (LCADC) and certified addictions counselor (CAADC) with a PhD in Psychology and a practice built around the treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. My doctoral research examined pathways to recovery from opioid use disorder, published through Walden University in 2025. I'm a member of the American Psychological Association and a contributor to Psychology Today. Before this work became my career, it was my life. Long-term recovery informs how I approach this practice — not as a sales point, but as the foundation of a particular kind of understanding. I know what it takes. I've seen what holds people back. And I know that what looks like resistance is usually fear.
